On freezer paper, I outlined the dark, medium and light areas of an enlarged frog picture. I cut out those individual pieces to make a pattern.

I placed each pattern piece onto either light, dark or medium fabric. After cutting those out, I arranged each piece to create the frog.

I stitched each piece in place on the background fabric with a blanket stitch using my domestic machine.

I placed the finished applique onto a piece of batting. I attached that to a hoop frame for my 15” longarm machine. I free motioned quilted simple waves around the frog.

The quilt was trimmed to the size of a gallery canvas and a brown border was attached to give the edge a clean finish.
