This improv block that started out with a 5 sided crazy quilt piece (the center black and white stripped piece) cut from a template. Once that was built out to about 4 inches, I cut it into a shape of a hexagon. I framed the hexagon with a maroon strip of fabric and then cut it into a bigger hexagon.

With the exception of cutting out the hexagons, there was no matching or measuring. I added Gray Kona Cotton for the border and quilted it with straight lines on my domestic machine.

I added a stip of fabic to the block so that I could wrap it around the canvas.
