Bauhaus Modblock

  • Bauhaus Modblock wall hanging

I was inspired by Bauhaus design elements so I created a wall hanging using those elements plus a few other block patterns that I had made with a previous quilt, 100 Modern Quilt Blocks by Tula Pink.

  • Up close photo of Bauhaus Modblock

I free motioned quilted this piece on my longarm machine using matching thread and a straight line ruler. Each 6” x 6” block is quilted with simple straight lines.

  • Bauhaus Modblock with sewing machine

I finished this piece with a clean edge facing instead of a traditional binding. I learned this technique from Victoria van der Laan through CraftyMonkies web classes.

  • Back of Bauhaus Modblock showing edging

The back is showing off the quilting and the mitered corners of the facing. I attached a custom label (also learned from Victoria van der Laan’s class).

  • Back of Bauhaus Modblock showing hanging rod.

I attached a hanging sleeve and rod - another technique I learned in a CraftyMonkies web class.

    Look at that quilting!
