Stanley

  • pile of scrap fabric

The majority of this quilt was made entirely from leftover fabrics and batting. I did purchase a half yard of blue for the center squares. I adjusted the size of the quilt based on the amount of fabric I had.

  • quilt units with quilting tools and iron

I started this one at a quilt group “sew in”. Our group showed up at our meeting place with our machines and projects and spent the entire day sewing and chatting. I didn’t get much done but got a good start!!

  • quilt block

The block is very simple, consisting of 8 units sewn together. This is a pattern where you can stack all the units in one pile and chain stitch with speed.

  • mini quilt

Once I had most of the blocks done, I put them on my design wall. Not much rearranging to be done before sewing the blocks together in rows.

  • quilt on a longarm frame

I quilted this on my longarm machine. The backing was made from scraps leftover from another project and pieced together in several places. As you can see, one of the seams is very close to the top but once it’s done, it’s barely noticeable.

  • upclose view of a longarm machine

The quilting pattern is called Regnbue from Urban Elementz. I was planning to use this on another project and was testing it out on this donation quilt.

  • domestic sewing machine sewing binding on a quilt

Sewing the binding on using my domestic machine.

  • quilt with label

I am a member of the Winchester Modern Quilters and we donate quilts to support our community. The Stanley was donated to the Stonewall District Ruritan Club. I stitched the details on our club label using my domestic machine.
