Simply Serene Green

  • black and white half square triangles

The first step for this quilt is to make 95 half square triangles (HST). I used Bella Solid Black and White fabrics.

  • green scrap quilt on a design wall

For the prints, I used precut 5” squares of assorted fabric - Evergreen by Andover Fabrics, Dragonfly Moon by Northcott and Brew by Moda Fabrics.

I laid each row out prior to sewing making sure I had a good balance of light and dark fabric.

  • Simply Serene with black dog

This layout was getting big and I labeled each row so I wouldn’t get confused when sewing it together. There are many pieces to a row and they are set on point.

Gracie is keeping things on schedule!

  • Simply Serene loaded on a longarm frame

I free-motioned this quilt on my longarm using a curved ruler to make an Orange Peel quilt design.

  • Simply Serene border

I set each corner of the quilt top with a dragonfly. The borders are Kona Cotton Black and Avocado. I free-motioned straight and curvy lines in the border. I was just starting out with free-motion quilting so my lines are a bit wobbly.
