Flapjacks

  • This is one block that makes up the Flapjack pattern by the Fat Quarter Shop. The original pattern calls for 3 1/2” x 8” strips of print fabric and 3 1/2” square for the pickle background fabric.

I used a 2 1/2” wide strips of a pre-cut fabric collection that I already had on hand. I adjusted the pattern to 2 1/2” squares for the pickle background. The block is 6 1/2” x 12”.

  • colorful green quilt

I used a pre-cut jellyroll of Kaffe Fassett Collective Classics- Citrus Island. The background is Kona Cotton Pickle.

Since I adjusted the pattern to fit my fabric, it resulted in a smaller block. I added an extra row on the quilt to make up the difference.

  • long arm machine with quilt on the frame

I quilted this on my longarm machine using a computerized edge to edge pattern called Threadsongs Chain Maille from Urban Elementz.

  • close up of quilting pattern

Here is a close up of the quilting pattern.

  • domestic sewing machine

I used my domestic machine to attach the binding to the front of the quilt. I hand sew the binding on the back of most of my quilts.

  • quilt backing with label

My quilt labels are attached to the back under the binding. The clips hold the binding in place until it’s tacked down.

The backing fabric is called Natures Study Hyacinth Hexie.
