4 Patch & Stripes

  • old style fabric

This pattern is called 4 Patch & Stripes from Missouri Star Quilt Company. I used a jelly roll from Kansas Troubles Quilters called Gooseberry Lane. A jelly roll is fabric strips cut 2 1/2” x 44” and gives you a variety of prints from the entire fabric line.

  • fabric pieces

I used Kona Cotton Navy for the background fabric. I have sewn a print to a background fabric.

  • quilt pieces

Once I had laid out the quilt top with all of the units, I stacked them into piles by row, marking the rows by numbers. I took this entire box to the sewing machine and chained pieced the top.

    The quilt top is together!

  • quilt top loaded on quilt frame

This was my first quilt top that I finished on my new longarm machine!

  • Close up of quilt top on longarm

I had no idea what I was doing so I free-motioned loops and snowflakes!

  • Four patch and Stripes quilt

I added a brown print border and finished it with a traditional binding. I don’t know the name of the backing material but it works well.
