Christmas Postcards
-
I had been wanting to make a quilted postcard and Christmas was coming up so why not?
-
I wanted to make the cards in bulk so I laid out different fabrics on one piece of batting. With my longarm machine, I used an edge to edge pattern and quilted the entire piece as if it were a quilt.
-
I cut the quilted material down to 4” x 6” rectangles (bottom left) and appliqued or pieced different Christmas fabrics in various shapes.
-
After the top was finished, I put a piece of heavy stabilizer between the top and the backing. I finished the cards with a tiny traditional binding. You can write your greetings on the back!
-
I love the works of Henri Matisse, especially the cut outs. I thought this form would look good as Christmas tree!
